Hi, all. I've looked to see if there was another topic about this phone, but I don't think there is. If I'm wrong, then someone please show me the proper thread.

Anyway, I'm with Verizon, and just upgraded my phone to an LG enV3. I wish I could get an accessible phone, but since I don't have the money, this is the next best thing. Do any of you guys have this phone, and if so, can you give me some tips and pointers on using it? I need help particuarly with getting it to read text messages. I know it can, because I've seen it do so, but I can't get it to work on a consistent basis, so I must be doing something wrong. Also, does anyone know if there's an accessible copy of the manual for the enV3 anywhere?

I'm going to try to subscribe to the LG users list, but until I do, any help you guys can give me here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that the ENV3 reads texts? I asked a rep at the store and he claimed that it doesn't--but maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. I sorta like the feature of saying a song title and it plays. Not sure if you had a chance to mess with this yet. Anyways, let me know how this phone works because I'm sorta of regretting that I didn't wait long enough to try this phone out. Thanks.

Post 3 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 5:58:49

No, I haven't tried that feature yet. I didn't know it existed. And yes, I know it reads texts, because the rep at the store showed me that it did. She texted my phone from hers several times, and each time, we got it to read it. So like I say, I know I'm doing something wrong. i'm going to head back to Verizon this weekend and have them help me some more, but what I really need is tips from blind folks, and a copy of the manual itself. I'll let you know what I think of it as I get more used to it, Teal. At least I have 30 days to decide, and go back to my old phone if I have to. I don't think I will, though. I don't think the problem is the enV3, I think it's that I don't know how to fully use it yet.

I have the ENV 2 so not sure how different it is.
To read a text on my phone, I do the following:
1. open phone two press left softkey it should say messaging arrow once for in box press enter, then pres enter again, press right space bar and the message should read out

Post 5 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 02-Jul-2009 13:53:46

While i don't know how its done i do know it can be done as i know someone who has an ENV 3 and has it done on a consistant basis. Verizon reps are not always the best people to ask as they can't be expected to know every feature of every phone they sell especially a feature like this that so few of their customer base uses. As for the accessable manual, do a google search for "LG ENV 3 manual" or LG vx xxxx manual" with the "xxxx" being the model number that follow the VX in the phones name. You should find a link to a pdf manual with a link next to it that says view as HTML so you can read it right in your web browser.

Post 6 by tealgreen (Generic Zoner) on Saturday, 04-Jul-2009 0:33:16

I forgot to mention that you can also call LG directly and ask them for a braille manual sent to you. I tried doing that for my phone--however, they made a mistake in sending me a large print. I'm sure if I had called back and asked them to re-send, they might have done so. I'm not sure what the number for LG is, but you can find it through toll free or even google. Hope this helps--good luck.

Post 7 by MelodicFate (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 04-Jul-2009 2:53:57

I have the LG EnV2, and the guy at the store set it to where it reads who the text is from, and the message as it comes through. I don't know what the setting is, but maybe you could try looking for such a setting. Then again, I'm not really sure how different the EnV2 is from the EnV3. I myself just got my phone about a month ago, so I'm fairly new using it. as well.

Post 8 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 04-Jul-2009 6:46:35

Wow, LG provides Braille manuals? Holy buckets, that would solve all my problems. I'll call them Monday. Thanks loads for that, Teal!

Post 9 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 04-Jul-2009 12:16:50

I saw the env3 yesterday, and so far, I don't see a reason to jump from the env2 to the 3. The only speech difference I found was the ability to say play. Play a song or artist, I'm guessing.

A little side comment, it is nice that Samsung is putting similar accessibility features in many of their phones. Samsung gives you a bit more information in the text message than LG. As you read the msg in your inbox, it tells you the time and date the msg arrived, and I think who it is from. Not sure on that last point.

I'm very happy with my env2, so those of you that have the env3, I imagine you'll love it as well.

BTW, cool info about the braille manuels!

Post 10 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 08-Jul-2009 22:28:46

i just signed up with Verizon today, and i got the ENV3. i am sure this post will come in handy i will try calling LG tomorrow for a braille manual too. But, for the few hours i have had it so far it seems like a good phone.

Post 11 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 10-Jul-2009 12:38:02

well, i have noticed it speaks the my music menu like playlist, artist and album in the Env3 and it does not in the Env2. Also when you go to missed calls after you hear the missed call number it asks if you want to add the number to your contact list and i have a friend who has the Env2 and he said his phone does not do that. Oh yah, and some of the buttons on the phone are placed differently as well. Like the keyboard is set up more like a computers is.

Post 12 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 10-Jul-2009 15:18:18

well, i am confused i just called LG customer service and the person told me it is not possible for the phone to read the text to you but, if you guys know away that it can let me know. Thanks, Oh yah, and i asked about getting a braille manual and they said they were out for that phone but they will be getting some more in in a few weeks.

Post 13 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 10-Jul-2009 19:59:07

Dave, those are some cool additional features. Grin, maybe there is some good reasons to move up from the env2.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, it'll read out artist and song titles?

Maybe someone should call and ask when vzw is going to put the env3 manual in text format. On their accessibility page.

Post 14 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 10-Jul-2009 22:02:06

well, that i dont know because i dont have any music on there yet. but it does read the menu that says that, i will have to try putting some songs on there and let you know. that will be pretty cool if it does speak the name of the song and artist though.

Post 15 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 11-Jul-2009 2:32:30

ok well i just puts some songs on my Env3 and it seems like it does not say the song or artist name. but i noticed if you go to the playy, in voice commands it says State title of music, so maybe that is a new feature in the Env3. But, it appears it does not say the artist or song title That would be nice though if it did.

Post 16 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Saturday, 11-Jul-2009 12:52:41

Hello.

I've got an enV3 myself, and you can make it read texts. I'll show you how.

When it says you have a message, press the end key on the keyboard a few times. now press the left softkey, there should be a bunch of options. Just press the down arrow once, it should say messages. Press the OK/select key twice and you will be in a sort of list. This list is sorted newest to oldest. To cycle between messages press left and right arrows. To read a message, press OK and then space. To return back to the list of messages, press the second key in from the right on the bottom row of the keyboard.

So lets say you've got a new message. You'd press end a few times, press the left softkey, press down arrow, and then OK 3 times, then space to read it. To reply, press the OK key again and a menu comes up. It's straightforward from that point. Read my next post for some tips that I found work from the contacts option of the phone.

Post 17 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Saturday, 11-Jul-2009 12:58:52

Here are some tips that I've found work great from the contacts item of the phone.

For beginners I'll quickly give you instructions on how to get to the contacts item on the phone. To do this, press the end key a few times so you're at what i like to call the home screen. Press the left softkey, then right arrow once. Go down to contact list and now we're on the same page.

Some tips:

Press the up and down arrows to review contacts, remember that quick navigation works here, you can type the first letter of a contact to get to that contact quicker. Press the send key on a contact to call that number. To text the current number selected press the right softkey and then number 3. A texting thing pops up and you can type your text message in as you normally would.

Post 18 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 11-Jul-2009 14:09:00

You guys can do a google search for the manual and there should be a link that lets you view the pdf manual as html right in the browser in the search results.

Post 19 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 12-Jul-2009 19:30:56

well, i found the PDF version of the manual. i did not find the link view as HTML well, i did but it did not work. At least the one with yahoo did not work and i did not find a view as HTML with msn or google. So here is the PDF link unfortunetly.
www.lge.com/us/mobile-phones/pdf/Final%20enV3%20UG%20English.pdf

Post 20 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 13-Jul-2009 11:16:59

Thats odd usually google would give you a link to view it as HTML. Well you can always get the Nitro PDF plug in for firefox that when you click on any PDF file it will pop up and ask if you Want to view it as HTML, Download it, or View the PDF.

Hi,
I have a question that I couldn't figure out. How can you erase missed calls? I tried pressing the left softkey and the right one while in the missed calls list but the phone did not say anything. Any help is greatly welcome.

Thanks.

Post 23 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Monday, 20-Jul-2009 13:06:05

Ok, Alicia, here's the way you can read text messages. You have to go to settings and tools in your phone, then phone settings, then voice commands, and prompts mode. Make sure the prompts mode is turned on, and it will read text messages to you. It will tell you who the message is from, and when you here that, press the OK button to open it, and then press the pound key, and it will read the message to you.

o wow,
i was thinking of upgrading to the nv3, but wasn't sure how good it is. I might, but if i do upgrade now, i'd pay about 78 dollars, but if i wait till december, then i can get it free, but then during that time, there might be a new more awesome phone out, so not sure what to do! aaah well!

Post 25 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 20-Jul-2009 15:50:10

Yeah isn't that the debate we all face with all carriers? lol Unless you really need a new phone like really badly like there is some functionality of the new one that yours doesn't do, then i'd say hold off and see whatsw around in december lol

Post 26 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Monday, 20-Jul-2009 21:52:57

My friend has an EnV2, and it doesn't do as much as the EnV3 does in terms of reading out the screen. I would recommend getting it.

Post 27 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 20-Jul-2009 23:26:54

yah i have heard that too because i have a friend that has the ENV2 and he told me to try a couple of things and he was surprised because my phone talked and his phone would not speak that. So, i have heard that too.

Post 28 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 21-Jul-2009 1:26:57

Wow really? What do you guys mean the env3 reads more?

Deeper into the menus?
Does it tell you more information on text messages while in the inbox?
Can you review what you have written?

A side by side comparison sure would be nice. I checked out the env3 at the store, but I don't know what I'm looking for, as far as it speaks more.

Post 29 by MelodicFate (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 21-Jul-2009 1:32:36

Yeah, I'd like to know the same thing. Not that I know everything the EnV2 does, because I don't, since I've just gotten it, but I am interested in the overall difference between the two phones.

Post 30 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 23-Jul-2009 17:53:13

As I posted somewhere else, you guys can join the blind LG users yahoogroup. You have to go on www.yahoogroups.com and then search the phrase, "blind LG users," but it should be the only group that comes up. If you're not already a yahoo member, it will make you fill out a captcha, which can be done with Firefox, or sighted assistance, etc. But I know a lot of users there have these phones, and maybe you could get your questions answered more. I just joined the group myself, so am still learning.

Post 31 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 06-Sep-2009 13:38:36

Hi. I recently got the ENV3 when I switched to verizon and I need some guidance. In the store, I had him turn on the speech output so it reads all the menus. I've figured out how to add, modify, and delete contacts. however, I cannot figure out the text messeging side of things, or, how to add and change ringtones. I followed the directions posted above, but no luck. when I go into the messages ffolder, there is no speech feedback at all no matter what I do. when I go to prompts, I get to prompts mode, but can't get beyond that. I found the pdf manual, but it's invisible in adobe reader with jfw, and I can't seem to export it to a text file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Post 32 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 06-Sep-2009 17:12:11

Hi, if you go to verizonwireless.com/accessibility, the env3 manual is available in text format.

Post 33 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 07-Sep-2009 0:00:25

Indeed it is! thanks a bunch. just downloaded it. it's nice that they offer that but it would have been nice if the sales person or verizon customer support had told me about that when i bought the phone almost 2 months ago.

Post 34 by jamesk (This site is so "educational") on Monday, 07-Sep-2009 17:01:20

hi,
does the phone allow you to read the text multiple times?

Post 35 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 07-Sep-2009 22:32:20

yes you can hear the text message more than once just press the pound key again to hear the message again if the phone is closed, if the phone is open press space again. Then you press ok to reply to the message.

Post 36 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 08-Sep-2009 2:45:53

While the aditional speech features may be nice, LG has neglected to make the enV3 hearing aid compatible. Further, on newer models of the enV3, the dots on the f and j keys are not very pronounced, which sort of sucks. I would have kept the enV3 if it weren't for the hearing aid issue though. I went back to the Verizon store and downgraded to the enV2. The one nice thing about the enV3 is that there is a softkey instead of a music button, whihc is the case with the enV2. I have also found that the speech synthesizer that reads your contacts out to you seems less clear in the enV series as opposed to the vx series of phones.

I was messing around with my NV3 and I got it to read the time someone sent the text message and who sent the text when I pressed the spacebar. I changed a setting to make it do that and now I don't remember which setting I changed. Any ideas?
Thanks

Post 38 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 25-Dec-2009 19:03:24

My mom just got me this phone for Christmas. I've got a lot to learn! I definitely need to get the manual, so I'm going to contact LG and get it in braille. For the meantime, though, I hope Verizon still has it on their website.

Post 39 by Grecia (Newborn Zoner) on Friday, 25-Dec-2009 22:49:37

Hey guys. All righty, so, since I'm replying to this post, I do want to let you guys know that I have an NV3. And, I'm still learning it, kind of, but here's something that might help some of you. So, a bit late, but...
So, BrailleNote person, hopefully, by now, you've figured out how to erase missed calls? But, if not, here's how.
If you open your phone and press the okay button so that you're on the little home screen that starts off with media center, you should be able to arrow down twice to where it says recent calls. Press okay on that and the first thing that pops out is a thing that says recent calls, missed. Press okay on that, and the right soft key, above the main keyboard, and the number four. It won't read the menu, but trust me, the number four will get you to where you need to go. So, press the number four and then okay, and it'll say something like calls erased. And then, I always double check, but you can skip that if you like.. :D
Hope I've helped some!!!

Post 40 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 26-Dec-2009 8:59:56

Wow, this topic got brought back from quite awhile ago.

Guitar god, the reason Verizon didn't tell you there was a text version of the manual on the site is probably because they didn't know. I think Verizon has good customer service, but like just about every other mainstream company, their employees don't know shit about disabilities, or the services their company provides for people like us. I've experienced that myself, and I saw it when they were dealing with Scott on the hearing aid compatibility issue between the enV2 and enV3. Clearly the rep had no idea what the hell he was talking about, even though he was being friendly about it. Still, Verizon is no different from other companies in this way, and I'd rather deal with friendly idiots than grouchy ones.

Jordyn, I would love to know what setting you changed to make the phone read the sender's info for a text message. I had not thought the phone was capable of doing so.

LeAnn, you'll probably want to throw this phone or give it back to Verizon until you get used to it. That's certainly what I wanted to do with it. LOL.

Post 41 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 23:55:35

Okay, the Lg Nv3 sounds okay. I really need a new cell phone, but I really don't want to shell out $300 or there abouts for speech software. Also, I don't really need a data plan on my cell phone, cause I have a laptop, and I really don't see the need to spend an extra $30 a month on internet that I'm probably not gonna use that much. Does the Nv 3 allow a blind user to hear the letters as they're typing out a text message? Also, how accessible are the menus as far as speech? Finally, are there any other phones similar to this one that are speech-enabled? I want a newer model, so I don't want a phone more than a year old. Any suggestions would be great.

Post 42 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 0:58:54

For what you need this is a great choice. It is hearing aid compatable, don't know who says it is not, is says so on the specs sheet, so. Sister is correct some service reps don't know, so call back and ask for technical support. These people are better equip to answer hard questions, and you can even ask them to get the handset and work out the issue for you.

Post 43 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 5:59:41

It may say it's hearing aid compatible, and maybe for some who are not using a T-coil, it is. Scott could speak to that issue more than I. The only reason I kind of can is because I was there, and saw that the enV2 worked with his hearing aids, and the enV3 did not. Besides, what's written on the box does not work in all cases.

Yes, the enV3 is a new model phone. I am not exactly sure when it came out, but I don't think it is older than a year.

Yes, you can hear each letter spoken aloud as you type a text. However, you cannot go back and proofread what you've written, so be careful as you type, so that you can backspace over an incorect letter. The menus are okay. You can get fairly deep into them with speech, but like all LG phones, only so far. It's difficult to change the phone's various settings without sighted assistance.

A data plan would be useless with the enV3, since the Internet browsing part of the phone does not speak.

Post 44 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 14:38:38

The ENV3 came out online to the Verizon website in June and was in stores in July, i know that because i got my ENV3 right away when it came to the stores. One thing i find kind of weird about it is it will read you the missed calls but not the recieved or dialed calls. I think it is a pretty good phone overall.

Post 45 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 15:00:18

Hi, that sounds like an okay phone, I may have to go with that one. Does anyone forsee another model subsequent to the env3 that is just as accessible? I'm hoping If I like th phone, the next models will be just as good, if not better.

Post 46 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 15:46:26

Okay, I was on Vorizon's website, and I read all th features of the Env 3. It didn't mention voice as a feature, but that doesn't mean it's not on there. I think I will go with this phone. I just want to make sure I'm buying th right model. I will steer clear of the EnV3 touch, as this is a touch screen, and those really scare me. Is the voice activation difficult to manage? I have an older sistr who has this phone, so I'll have her help me set it up if necessary.

Post 47 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 15:58:01

The ENV series of phones seem to do really good for verizon, i have been noticing they have really been pushing the ENV3 in there christmas adds. So, maybe in a while the ENV4, we will havve to wait and see though as the ENV3 has been out for half a year now though.

Post 48 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Dec-2009 17:39:41

Post 51 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 19-Jan-2010 12:06:08

To delete the text messages you have to have the phone open, press ok to onlock the phone. Then press up arrow once to go to messages press ok to go into messages press down once to get to messages then press the options button which is located to the right of the right hinge on the phone. That will say options then you can arrow up and down to erase messages like sent messages or recieved messages or all messages. To erase just press ok on the choice you want. I hope that helps you .

Post 53 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 2:56:22

It the right soft key which is the bar looking key on the top right of the phone. When you have your phone open, it's right at the very top of the keyboard almost right underneath of the screen except the screen makes a ninety degree angle to where these keys are. It's by itself also. Sorry if this is confusing. LOL

Post 54 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 12:17:16

While the phone may advertize that it is hearing compatible, anything with a t1/m1 or t2/m2 rating is useless. I've found this, as have other hearing aid users.

To everyone who has rsponded,

Thanks for all of your help, I just got this phone myself. Where in the settings is it to change the speech to where it will speak all menus and options? It isn't in the etext version of the guide. Also, is it just me, but is the phone overly loud, even when it is on medium low? Besides the main speak all, what other settings should be changed to make the eNV3 as accessible as possible with speech, and where are they located?

Post 57 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 26-Jan-2010 2:39:31

OK, first, I'm not sure why you guys are giving such complicated directions to get to your text messages. All you have to do to get to your messages is make sure your phone is unlocked and open, with the keyboard and screen facing you. . Then, press the long, bar-shaped key at the top left, just below the screen, not the one on the right. That will simply say, "Messaging," and take you into the list of things you can do. The first thing it'll say is, "Messaging," then, "New Message," to tell you you're sitting on the option to send a new message. From there, down arrow once, and the phone says, "Messages." Hit OK twice, I believe, and then you're in your message list. So to erase a message, hit that left-hand bar key again, then OK, and it will say, "Message erased." Just keep doing that till all your messages are erased, if that's what you want to do. If you go into that messate menu as previously described and keep hitting down arrow, you'll find your drafts folder, etc, and can erase those messages, too. The enV3 unfortunately doesn't separate things into the neat folders that the enV2 does, but it's still doable.

Hi Alicia!
I have the phone as well. I don't know if there is an accessible manual, but if you need help with it, send me a message on ZBP or something, and I'll se iff we can get it figured out! It was a pain in the ass to get it to read text messages properly. Hmm...
Macy
PS: Yes, there is a way to separate the folders. Can't remember how but will see if I can figure it out! I know I have my phone set to that!

Macy, I think I've got the phone figured out by now. I've had it since last July Smile. Yes, there is an accessible manual, in case you need it. I think it's been mentioned a few times during this topic, but you'd have to go read all of it. Thanks.

It was recommended to me by someone to change a few settings with the phone so that it reads text messages better. Off the top of my head, I don't remember what to do, but if anyone needs to know, just let me know and I'll tell you. If I have my phone in front of me, I can do it.

i know how to hear the text messages and reply to them but, is there away to hear who sent you the message if you dont hear who sent the message when it came in. Like hearing the date and time a message came in.

Post 63 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 13-Apr-2010 9:55:14

Not that I'm aware of. I wish there were. The only way I've gotten around that is to ask people to sign their messages, which most are good about. If any of you knows how to get the phone to repeat who sent you a text, I'd love to hear it.

Post 64 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 13-Apr-2010 12:42:57

I'd love to know, too. There have been a few times when I didn't hear who sent the text, and they didn't have their name signed at the end of the message.

Post 65 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 13-Apr-2010 16:43:45

yah that is what i usually do too. i will have the people that text me sign there name at the end of the messages.

That line that says who sent the message is abvove it and no it can not be read with the speech, so having all your contacts sign is the best, or hitting the call button and calling that person if you really need to know. I've also found by getting that manual, sitting down someplace and going through it works wonders to teach things. Last Verizon, or at least where I live are wonderful about helping you. Go to the store early and simply ask them to set it up for you and help with features. Getting tech support on the phone and having the tech get that handset and go through what you want to learn is also wonderful.

The Verizon folks that I've dealt with have always been friendly about trying to help me get the accesibility features set up on a phone, but unfortunately, have not been very knowledgeable about doing so. It's very clear that they rarely have to deal with such issues in the store. Usually they wind up looking at the manual themselves, or calling their own tech support, etc. Sometimes, they think they've got it set right, only for me to bring the phone home and find out it's not been done at all. I at least appreciate their friendly service and attempts to help, but I really do wish they'd be more thoroughly trained on dealing with customers with disabilities, and the various accessibility features that come with their phones.

I've run in to that only a little. Maybe because I usually understand what I want due to reading the manual. I don't think the issue of knowing about are need is the problem, I just think some people do their jobs better then others. You get a in store rep that is just their to earn the dollar they'll not even be able to help the regular customer without reading or calling for help either, so I've been pretty lucky. Their was one gyuy at the store I got my phone from that knew it inside and out, so. Smile. Help yourself and read that lovely braille or audio manual LG has had the good sense to provide you.

Well this is encouraging about the ENV series phones. Nobody describes getting stuck so often as what used to be the case with the LG 4500 or even the VX8600 where you couldn't adjust the settings without sight. That being said, when I finally did get the manual, I either followed along in the manual or memorized numbers to get things, as they give out the numbers to push for the various options.
Still, for me, I think I'll wait till I can get a Nokia and Talks or something, as I more often than not am the technical go-to guy around here, and you really can't explore the phone's environment without a phone screen reader. I found the old LG phones to work passably when they worked, but get into states where there was no speech.
Good thing you all aren't experiencing this anymore and now they've got a lot more online. Of course it's been a few years since I had a cell phone.

Hi, how many times do I need to press the okay button on the outside of my phone to unlock it? It seems like if I'm replying to a txt, I have to press okay, then open my phone and press the square okay key in the middle of the four arrow keys. I shouldn't have to open my phone then close it! How can I unlock my phone without all these extra steps? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this is really irritating.

Post 71 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 11-May-2010 15:23:53

If you reply to the text outside and press the okay twice and then reply it is unlocked. But if you press the okay key, then open the phone you will start over, so you ed decide how you'll reply. under phone settings you can turn itt off, but then when in your pocket, a purse, or case it wil dial accidently all the time, so it is catch 22. You can set the lock delay as well for longer.

I like using the qwerty keyboard to reply to messages, so what's the best way to unlock my phone?

Hey I got the i Phone and love it, but now I have a few HTC O-Zone phones that are new, so if any one would like to buy them, I am willing to sell them for a good price. I need the cash to cancel my contract with Verizon. I sespened my lines until I could save up the cash to cancel them. But if anyone is welling to buy them message me. they all have talks on them allready. One has talks that has the code but the code has not yet been programed in to it yet so it is still running on demo, you will just have to have a sighted person do it for you. Then the phone will be full version. They also come with all that the phone came with plus I also have a retractable cell phone charger that will fit it and goes with it along with the one that came with them. I also have a blue tooth. I might have two of them if I can't get my new one to work with my I Phone.

Hi, how do I delete contacts on my Env3? Also, how can I hear missed calls? So far, I like this phone. Has anyone heard of any more recent ENV phones? I got a txt from Vorizon awhile back, but I can't remember what model the phone is. So far so good for the most part.

Post 75 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 18-Jul-2010 14:17:26

you can go to the voice commands and say the contact name then it says a list of options and you say erase and that is how you erase a contact. to listen to the mist calls just press the voice commands button and go down to check and then press down twice and there are the mist calls for you.
